Disintegration : The Cure's Greatest Masterpiece

<Highly acclaimed by professionals and devoted listeners; the peak of the band; their best work>

Disintegration is the eighth studio album from British band The Cure, released in 1989. This album marks a return
to the dark gothic sound The Cure used to have back in the early 80s. Robert Smith was very specific and said that music icons like Bowie had done their best work before theirs 30s. Robert was nearing this age, so he frantically started working on the matter and, also, with the help of hallucinogenic drugs he was able to create The Cure's most praised album.

More than 50% of the songs this album contains were and are from the biggest hits throughout The Cure's 40 years career, including Lullaby, Pictures of You, or Lovesong. Personally thinking, I prefer going to the less known songs like The Same Deep Water As You or Closedown, I love them!

The tracklist is the next:

Crítica de Disintegration, disco de The Cure publicado en 1989.

2. Pictures of You
3. Closedown
4. Lovesong
5. Last Dance
6. Lullaby
7. Fascination Street
8. Prayers for Rain
9. The Same Deep Water as You
10. Disintegration
11. Homesick
12. Untitled

The album reached 3.000.000 sales by 1992, a figure The Cure never had had during their career. The Cure hasn't been problem-free as they faced a myriad of inconveniences within the group; Founder of the band Lawrence "Lol" Tolhurst departure was a big down for the band; He had been coping with alcoholism. Smith sent him a letter which let Lawrence know he was not a part of the band anymore. It's said other members would leave if Smith didn't take any action in Tolhurst case! Smith replaced him definitely with temporal member Roger O'Donnell who became an official member after Tolhurst kick.

It's widely said that The Cure is a cult band because of the genre of music they create, though it is not true as figure roses 30m sales in 40 years of trajectory; if their previous album Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me had already skyrocketed the band's popularity, Disintegration made sure the band stayed as one of the top bands of the moment; although later on, it would transcend as one of the most important bands in history without doubt.

Most reviews are positive for the album; worldwide known magazine Rolling Stone added this album in their list: 500 best albums in Music history.

David. M. Allen, Roy Spong, and Richard Sullivan, along with Robert Smith, were in charge of the production of the album, recorded at Hookend Recording Studios in Checkendon, Oxfordshire. The personnel and band line up of the moment were formed by Robert Smith, Simon Gallup, Porl Thompson, Roger O'Donnell, and Boris Williams; Lol Tolhurst also appears on the credits, his only contribution was in "Homesick"; many of these members would leave the band later on, but eventually returned, as Roger O'Donnell who left in 2005 and returned in 2011. Also former members as Lol Tolhurst or Porl Thompson are frequent contributors, they play with the band from time to time.

So, is Disintegration one of your favorite albums? is Kyle from South Park right when saying, "Disintegration is the best album ever"? Personally saying, this is my favorite album, so I think you already know what I'd answer.
